To the Caterina Valente Community,
We’re writing to address some persistent misunderstandings regarding the availability of certain albums and our recent releases.
We understand and share your love for Caterina’s music. The desire for albums like “Bentornata Caterina” and “Soleil Leve-Toi” is clear. However, the belief that releasing these is a simple matter is a misconception. These albums are bound by historic, exclusive licensing agreements for Italy and France, while international rights were held by Teldec. To re-release them today requires agreement between all current rights holders—a complex negotiation we have been engaged in for years.
Furthermore, our own efforts to release legally cleared content—such as the “Bonsoir Catherine” shows and other specials—have been met with criticism from some quarters, particularly in Germany. It’s important to understand that these projects represent significant investment and legal work to bring previously unavailable material to fans.
The internet allows for instant commentary, but not always with full knowledge of the intricate copyright and business realities we navigate daily. Our commitment is to Caterina Valente’s legacy. We will always choose the path that protects her work from unauthorized exploitation, even if it is the more difficult one.
We ask for your understanding as we continue this work. Our goal is not to frustrate fans, but to ensure that Caterina’s artistry is honored properly and legally.
Thank you for your time.
