Humble Demo: A Personal Connection to Timeless Music

So here we are in Switzerland and Italy, and I find myself thinking about my mother, who had the incredible privilege of performing in concert with the composer and genius, Michel Legrand.

In the shadow of that legacy, I feel a deep, almost daunting, pull to share a song. It’s a song first brought to sublime life by none other than Barbra Streisand, with lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman. To me, Barbra’s great gift has always been her unerring eye for finding extraordinary material—she is my hero in that way.

This is a song that has lived close to my heart for a very long time. I’ve quietly wanted to give voice to it, so I’ve made a simple demo. It’s not a performance, just a humble offering from one admirer of this music to another. It’s here for you to listen to, if you’d like.

I hope it carries a little of the song’s beauty that has always moved me.
